Redefining Coffee in the Quiet Hours
For most of us, coffee is associated with the morning rush. It’s always a part of our morning routine. But there is a different kind of warmth existed in those deep roasted notes.
When we designed our coffee blend, Dark Roast, we wanted to subvert the traditional coffee ritual. It isn't meant to clear up your mind or spark productivity, but rather to help you slow things down. It carries the comforting depth of dark chocolate, the warmth of an espresso martini, and a soft, lingering caramel sweetness. It feels like that last drink of the evening when the lights are low, conversations soften, and time finally stops feeling so rush.
Catching the Aroma Without the Burn
Working with coffee beans in traditional incense making methos is difficult. Directly burning ground coffee beans causes them to burn far too quickly, completely masking the rich aromas we actually love. Instead of forcing the ingredient, we decided to slow the entire process down.
We select premium coffee beans from Yunnan and give them a gentle medium-roast to preserve their natural, soft character without turning into bitter ash. We use steam distillation at a low temperature of 92°C for 45 minutes to slowly lift the aroma from the beans. This leaves us with a clear, natural coffee essential oil that is rich and aromatic, which is completely free of any burnt notes.
A Slow Rhythm of Bitter, Creamy, and Resin
The true magic of Dark Roast lies in how this pure coffee essence interacts with its grounding foundations.
High-Altitude Yunnan Coffee Beans: Grown slowly in mountain air, they provide a naturally clean profile with a restrained acidity, translating into clarity rather than sharpness.
Mysore Sandalwood: Highly prized for its soft, creamy warmth, it acts as a smooth structural base that embraces the coffee’s bitterness and leaves a quiet, milky depth close to the skin and air.
Nha Trang Agarwood: Valued for its calm character, this precious wood introduces a subtle, slightly sweet grounding warmth that extends the scent instead of darkening it.
We ease the coffee oil into this grounding powder, working the paste patiently by hand before shaping each stick individually. As they air-dry, the elements settle into a beautiful balance where bitterness, creaminess, and resin move in a slow, comforting rhythm.
